hamstring injury

Hamstring and groin injuries arise from fierce starting, sprinting, abrupt braking, quick averting and turning. This injury mainly occurs in sprinters, hockey players and football players. The Herzog PRO Sport Compression Shorts work preventively against hamstring and groin injuries and help recover after sustaining an injury.

How does a hamstring or groin injury occur?

Groin and hamstring injuries are very common. They often occur after sprinting activities, but are also triggered by quick turns or turns or abrupt braking. These injuries can occur acutely, for example after an explosive movement, but they can also occur dormantly as a result of too much strain. In the beginning, you only feel it when you start exercising. When the injury gets worse, the pain increases to such an extent that you are forced to stop exercising. The great danger is that if you have suffered such an injury before, it is more likely that you will be confronted with it more often.

How do you recover from a hamstring or groin injury?

First of all, go to your GP or (sports) physiotherapist to determine exactly what is going on. Take enough time for your rehabilitation. Make sure that the affected region becomes sufficiently strong again and slowly increase the load again. Given the high risk of recurrence, we recommend that you, even if you are sufficiently fit, start wearing the Herzog PRO Compression Short preventively during exercise. The pants absorb the shocks of the relatively heavy thigh muscles, so that those muscles are kept ‘in check’, as it were, and are optimally supported. The lateral movement (pendulum movement) of the muscles is neutralized and the movement ‘outwards’ when the muscles contract is very adequately absorbed. Due to the decreasing pressure profile from distal to proximal, from far from the heart to the heart, the Herzog PRO Compression shorts also ensure a faster removal of waste products and thus a faster recovery.

What makes the PRO Compression Shorts so unique?

  • Thanks to three measuring points, the fit is precisely tailored to the leg/buttock contour of the athlete. This precise fit is necessary to ensure the exact amount of compression and compression gradient.
  • A decreasing pressure gradient from 20 mmHG above the knee to 13 mmHG below the buttock ensures a faster venous return.
  • Due to the high, dosed compression on the thigh, the muscle mass remains compact, with the result that tensile forces on muscles, tendons and attachments are reduced.
  • The risk of groin injuries is greatly reduced by the counter pressure in the groin region.
  • There is considerably less chance of muscle damage because the lateral shaking forces and shock load have much less effect on the relatively heavy thigh muscles.
