Nicole Weijling-Dissel is the Dutch record holder in the distances 800m – 1,000m – 1,500m – mile – 2,000m and current world champion in her class in the 800m and 1,500m and has been running for 6 years now.

The first years I walked without compression socks or tubes. Then I always suffered from my calves: I felt great tension, stiff, balloon calves with pain and several times painful tears, which necessitated weeks of recovery and rehabilitation period. On advice I started wearing compression socks . The socks are tight and keep my muscles in my lower leg compactly together. This feels like a very tight second skin and as if with every landing all my muscles are held and protected. When I wear Herzog socks or tubes, I usually feel no and sometimes minimal tension in my calves. (A slight calf tension in the beginning I get away with just as short stretching and relaxation exercises)
